Roper Gulf Regional Council is located in the southeast of the top end of the Northern Territory bounded by the southern Kakadu escarpments, the northern Barkly Tablelands, the Gulf of Carpentaria, and the Queensland border. The Councils area spans 201,000 square kilometres – almost three times the size of Tasmania – making Council’s operational footprint one of the largest in the Northern Territory.
Roper Gulf Regional Council is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as Senior Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable).
Working in a small team senior finance officer will ensure that all rates, fees and charges are properly and promptly charged to clients and that the accounts receivable are promptly collected and accurately recorded in the Council’s financial systems.
More specifically, your duties will include (but not limited to):
- Ensure all debtor accounts are managed promptly and Manage the Council’s Rate book.
- Implement and ensure prompt, efficient and effective accounts receivable and rating processes across the organisation, with reference to Best Practice principles.
- Monitor and manage all revenue-related agency and internal allocation-related balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with GST legislation.
- Provide assistance to external auditors during the annual audit as required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties within the scope of the relevant level as instructed by the direct supervisor.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a post secondary qualification in Accounting or Financial Management. Previous experience in Accounting/Bookkeeping function or similar, with at least (3) years’ experience will be highly regarded. Ideally, you will have knowledge of accounting practices and procedures relating to Local Government, but not essential.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary ranging from $74,372.51 - $81,761.36 per annum plus Superannuation, additional benefits include 6 weeks annual leave, 10 days of personal or carer’s leave, salary packaging options, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
