About the Opportunity

Murray River Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of assigned projects from inception to completion. The Project Manager will ensure that all projects are delivered within the specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, benefits, and risk, while meeting the functional and performance requirements of the defined scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple engineering and construction projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate project activities and address any issues or risks by liaising with key stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these benchmarks.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing appropriate risk management strategies.
  • Communicate project status and performance effectively to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and Council policies.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior members of the project team.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are looking for someone who possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and relevant experience. The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing engineering and construction projects from inception to completion, demonstrating the ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

Strong project planning and scheduling skills, excellent risk management and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in project management software and tools are essential. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance, proactive in anticipating and mitigating risks, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Additionally, they should have knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and Council policies, and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

The successful candidate will also require:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Project Manager, preferably within the civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • National Police Check.
  • Pre-employment Medical.
