As Alfabs continues to secure major projects across New South Wales—particularly in the Sydney and Hunter regions—we are entering an exciting growth phase. To support this expansion, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Project Cost Controller to join our industry-leading engineering and project delivery team.

In this role, you will play a key part in managing project financials, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance across a diverse portfolio of projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and uphold a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with WHS regulations and company policies.
  • Manage and maintain accurate cost data across labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, and overheads.
  • Establish and monitor project controls, cost centres, and financial structures for effective cost allocation.
  • Support project forecasting and performance tracking through S-curves, dashboards, and real-time cost analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain minor works costings, trackers, and input data into customer portals as required.
  • Collate, review, and process timesheets, leave forms, and liaise with Payroll for accurate labour cost reporting.
  • Conduct variance analysis, identify cost deviations, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Validate and code vendor invoices, subcontractor claims, and internal timesheets in line with WBS structures.
  • Assist in preparing monthly cost reports, client progress claims, and documentation for variations and claims.
  • Continuously improve cost tracking systems, templates, and reporting processes to enhance project delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 12 months experience in cost control or project accounting within engineering, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in cost management systems, Excel, and ERP platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of WHS and compliance standards.
