Are you ready to lead and inspire? Murray River Council is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Interim Director of Infrastructure for a 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and deliver impactful infrastructure outcomes for our thriving Murray River community.

The Role
As Interim Director of Infrastructure, you will report directly to the CEO and be instrumental in shaping the future of our council’s infrastructure services. Your efforts will significantly enhance the quality of life for our residents by delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions that support our thriving community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing water, wastewater, and transport infrastructure operations.
  • Leading asset management strategies and implementing innovative service delivery models.
  • Driving strategic planning aligned with community and long-term financial goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering environmental sustainability.
  • Mentoring and leading a skilled team to deliver exceptional outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Representing the council in professional, community, and government forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality technical advice and leadership in infrastructure management.
  • Develop comprehensive plans to manage council assets sustainably.
  • Oversee the annual delivery program and operational plans.
  • Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for an experienced leader with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or project management (post-graduate qualifications desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Proven success in managing complex infrastructure projects and budgets.
  • Exceptional communication and strategic thinking skills.
  • A valid Australian driver’s license and the ability to work across council locations

Location
This role is based in Moama, with travel throughout the council area as required.
