The opportunity
We have an opportunity for a skilled heavy plant operator to join our Urana team, if you like variety in your work then this is the opportunity for you.
Councils Operations Department operate a number of teams such as grader, construction, road patching, slashing, sundry and signage. The role of the Heavy Plant Operator is to backfill in any one of these crews and on a number of different plant items on an as required basis to ensure the teams can continue to function during period of staff leave and absenteeism. Work duties and requirements will change on a day-to-day basis under instruction from the Works Overseer.
Criteria
- Hold a current and valid Heavy Combination (HC) drivers licence.
- Hold a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Demonstrated experience in road maintenance and construction activities associated with sealed and unsealed roads.
- Thorough knowledge of servicing and maintenance of various plant to ensure they are in a clean and operational condition.
- Knowledge of WHS practices and ability to actively encourage and promote a safe working environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1,206.30 per week plus Award allowances, with progression up to $1,331.60 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
