The opportunity
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a skilled heavy plant operator to join our Corowa team, if you like variety in your work then this is the opportunity for you.
Councils Operations Department operate a number of teams such as grader, construction, road patching, slashing, sundry and signage. The role of the Heavy Plant Operator is to backfill in any one of these crews and on a number of different plant items on an as required basis to ensure the teams can continue to function during period of staff leave and absenteeism. Work duties and requirements will change on a day-to-day basis under instruction from the Works Overseer.
Key criteria to be address in applications
- Hold a current and valid Heavy Combination (HC) drivers licence and a range of other major plant and equipment competencies.
- Demonstrated experience in road maintenance and construction activities associated with sealed and unsealed roads.
- Thorough knowledge of servicing and maintenance of various plant to ensure they are in a clean and operational condition.
- Excellent knowledge of WHS practices and ability to actively encourage and promote a safe working environment at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a productive and positive team work environment.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The wage commences at $1,206.30 per week plus Award allowances, with progression up to $1,331.60 per week plus Award allowances dependent upon skills and experience.
