About HVCCC
Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator (HVCCC) is a unique and vital organisation that works independently of individual interests to optimise the end-to-end performance of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain, one of the most complex, productive and efficient coal supply chains in the world. On behalf of its members (the Hunter Valley coal producers and service providers) HVCCC’s synchronises supply chain planning and execution across a vast network of interdependent assets, from mines to vessels, using a combination of world-class modelling, forecasting, and integrated planning systems. We are proud to have been named the state winner of the Business NSW Employer of Choice Award in 2023 and the Best Workplace Award in 2024 for exceptional employee engagement, wellbeing and progress.
With a collaborative team of 65 professionals, HVCCC is guided by a newly-approved Strategic Plan (2026–2030) that positions the business for its next phase of transformation, enhancing coal chain optimisation through advanced technologies, operational resilience and people-led change.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Digital and Technology Manager (DTM) plays a pivotal role in leading and delivering HVCCC’s technology vision, digital strategy, and business systems integration.
The DTM leads a team of 15, responsible for enabling smarter, faster decision-making through cutting-edge systems and insightful data analysis.
This role drives the strategic planning, implementation, and security of HVCCC’s systems, including development of resilient platforms and enhanced cyber protections. A critical partner to the CEO and other executives, the DTM provides expert guidance on business continuity, digital governance, and enterprise-wide innovation, all while maintaining a member-first mindset.
The DTM also plays a key role in board reporting, strategic vendor management, and executive collaboration, ensuring that digital transformation is tightly aligned with business priorities and risk management frameworks.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic and contemporary technology leader who thrives in complex business environments. You will be both hands-on and commercially astute, with a natural curiosity for solving business challenges and improving operational efficiency through digital innovation.
You will bring:
Proven experience in a senior digital or technology leadership role, ideally within a critical infrastructure or complex technical environment.A tertiary qualification in information technology or a related discipline, with evidence of continued contemporary learning and professional development.A track record in leading digital transformation, integrating systems, and delivering measurable business outcomes.The knowledge, skills and attitude to leverage technology, including AI, to boost the relevance, reach and value-add of human expertise.Exceptional communication skills – capable of translating technical concepts into commercial language and influencing outcomes at Board and executive level.A people-first leadership style, with a focus on building team culture, inspiring performance and fostering collaboration across the business.Strong capabilities in strategic vendor partnerships, business continuity planning, and cyber risk mitigation.
Importantly, as a leader you champion the importance of ensuring the digital and technology teams are integrated with the wider business and aligned to member-focused goals.
