COUNCIL RANGER

What we are looking for

We are looking for a casual Council Ranger to join the team to provide a high quality service in the enforcement of legislation, primarily relating to companion animals, environment and parking Join our Compliance team in an award-winning local government organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ever-changing dynamic team within the Mid-Western Regional Council.

The salary range being offered for this casual position is $43.31- $48.75 gross per hour (which includes 25% casual loading) plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).

Key Accountabilities

  • To enforce the provisions of the Companion Animals Act 1998, Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021, Roads Act 1993, Local Government Act 1993 and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and associated Regulations.
  • Working independently, carry out Council Ranger activities such as patrols to ensure compliance with parking restrictions, monitoring obstacles on footpaths including footpath dining, the placement of A-frames and goods for sale, follow up on complaints about overgrown blocks and other environmental issues and acting on reports alleging breaches of the Companion Animals Act 1998.
  • Follow up and act upon other areas of Council’s Compliance and enforcement as directed by the Compliance Coordinator.
  • Cleaning of pound and feeding of animals weekdays and ‘on call’ on weekends and public holidays as required.
  • Participate in annual and short term planning of work activities and projects aligned with Council’s Operational and Delivery Plan.
  • To provide quality customer service through clear and accurate advice to members of the public and Council’s staff via face to face discussions, on the telephone and via general written correspondence.
