Make a Real Impact and Live an Experience You'll Never Forget

Ready for a role that's bigger than the classroom? We're seeking committed teachers to join schools across remote Northern Territory communities. This is an opportunity to grow rapidly as an educator, contribute meaningfully alongside community, and experience a part of Australia that most people only ever read about-country, culture, and wide-open landscapes that stay with you for life.

Why Teach Remote NT (The Package)

Depending on location and contract, packages may include:

  • Free/ Subsidised / provided housing (and utilities in some locations)
  • Remote locality allowances and additional incentives
  • Relocation assistance (travel and freight support where applicable)
  • Extra leave / travel support (varies by site)
  • Secure, full-time employment with clear pathways to extend/return in future years
  • Professional learning and mentoring, including strong induction for teachers new to remote contexts

We'll confirm the exact package for each community and share it upfront before interview.

The Community & Lifestyle (What You'll Gain)

  • Be welcomed into a close-knit community where relationships matter and your work is genuinely valued
  • Learn from and work alongside local staff, Elders and families
  • Build cultural capability and inclusive practice that will strengthen your career anywhere in Australia
  • Spend your weekends exploring national parks, waterfalls, gorges, fishing spots, and iconic NT landscapes
  • Enjoy a pace of life that's simpler, richer, and grounded in community

The Role

As a classroom teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the Australian Curriculum (with local priorities)
  • Use explicit teaching, strong routines, and trauma-informed / strengths-based practice to support learning
  • Create safe, respectful learning environments with consistent behaviour expectations
  • Assess, report, and differentiate for mixed ability levels
  • Work collaboratively with leadership, support staff and community to improve attendance, engagement and outcomes
  • Contribute positively to whole-school initiatives and a strong team culture

We're Looking For

Essential

  • Australian Teacher Registration (TRBNT)
  • Ochre Card (WWCC)
  • A relationship-first approach: calm, consistent, and community-minded
  • Strong planning and classroom practice (graduates welcome with the right support mindset)
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to learn in a remote context
  • 2 x references (most recent and relevant within the last 5 years)

Highly regarded

  • Experience (or interest) in: remote teaching, multi-age classes, EAL/D, inclusive education, wellbeing support
  • Cultural capability and a commitment to working respectfully with First Nations students, families and colleagues
  • Ability to contribute to co-curricular activities (sport, arts, STEM, outdoor learning)

Support & Induction

You won't be doing this alone. Schools provide structured induction and ongoing support, typically including:

  • onboarding and community orientation
  • curriculum and planning support
  • access to specialist services and regional networks
  • mentoring and professional learning

How to Apply

Submit your resume and a short cover note outlining:

  1. your preferred year levels/subjects
  2. earliest start date and contract preference
  3. any remote experience (not required)
