About the Opportunity

The Team Leader Parks and Biosecurity will oversee the daily deployment of staff and resources within the Parks Unit, ensuring the efficient execution of operations, maintenance, and reporting in line with relevant legislation and Murray River Council's Policies and Procedures. This role plays a key part in supporting the Manager of Parks & Biosecurity to deliver high-quality services, contributing to the effective management and upkeep of our parks and green spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Superintendent Parks & Biosecurity in developing and providing horticultural services for Council’s parks, sportsgrounds, and urban roadside vegetation.
  • Deliver services related to parks, road reserves, easements, drainage basins, cemeteries, playgrounds, public trees, sports & recreational facilities, and public amenities.
  • Provide operational support and undertake parks facilities maintenance.
  • Lead and support the daily operational needs of the Biosecurity Officers.
  • Implement workplace risk management and apply Workplace Health and Safety principles.
  • Implement minor landscape projects and assist with open space asset maintenance.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are looking for an experienced Leader with:

  • Certificate III or IV in Horticulture or Turf Management or equivalent.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise team members, contractors and resources for parks and garden horticulture works.
  • Practical experience with horticultural machinery, mowers and related equipment.
  • Experience in a Local Government Authority.
  • Basic computer literacy and the ability to utilise current workplace technology.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of installing, repairing and maintenance of automatic irrigation and watering systems.

You will also require:

  • Current drivers’ licence
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Pre-employment Medical

Location
This role is based in Barham, with travel throughout the council area as required.
