The opportunity
We are seeking two friendly, enthusiastic and committed swim instructors to assist with the continued success and growth of councils learn to swim program.
Our facility is open 7 days a week with classes being offered on weekdays and weekends. Afterhours and weekend work may be required and the days and hours of work will be negotiated for the right candidate.
Up to 20 hours per week during NSW School Terms will be available to suitable candidates with the potential for further hours as council looks to develop the program further and expand to other facilities in the near future. Additional hours may be available to run school holiday intensive programs.
These positions are on a casual basis whilst council continues to assess service levels needed to provide a successful Learn to Swim Program that meets the needs of our community. Swim Instructors will be responsible for providing a safe, stimulating and fun lessons, which build confidence and capability in developing young people, adults and NDIS clients. As instructors, you will need to be a strong communicator to motivate and educate our patrons to build strong, active, and safe behaviours in the water.

Criteria
- Experience delivering and instructing learn to swim classes or willingness to learn.
- Ability to provide input into learn to swim lesson plans and classes or ability to contribute to workplace improvements.
- Accredited AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or the ability to acquire.
- Accredited AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infants and Preschool or the ability to acquire.
- Current and valid NSW working with children check and national police check or the ability to acquire.
- Current and valid Provide First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation qualification or ability to acquire within 3 months of commencement in the job.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary will be within the range of $28.76 to $31.74 per hour plus casual loading and standard allowances, depending on qualifications, experience, and skills. Junior rates apply to applicants aged 18 years or younger.
*Please note that weekend work is at the base rate + penalty rates.
