Talbot is a historic gold mining town; many mid-nineteenth-century buildings still line the streets. Time appears to have stood still, but this quaint little village has re-emerged as a tourism hotspot. It has excellent accommodation and many good eateries. The Farmer’s Markets held monthly attract up to 100 stalls and up to 2000 people stopping by. It also has several art galleries, and excellent Aboriginal artefacts are nearby.
Paddys Ranges State Park in the Pyrenees Ranges is nearby, and you will find a wide variety of local flora and fauna, including the rare Swift parrot, wallabies, kangaroos and echidnas, as well as Quartz Mountain, a massive quartz outcrop.
