Historically and currently is a working cattle station. In 1980 the local Garawa people, who largely resided in Borroloola and aided by the Aboriginal Development Committee, began working on a land claim on the Robinson River region. In 1992 the Land Claim was successful and the Garawa people were handed back the Robinson River Station and surrounding region. Today, the Garawa people are the owners and operators of Robinson River Station.
