About the role

Are you someone who loves working outdoors and making a positive difference in your community?

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled Works Assistants (Floating - Open Spaces) to join our team full-time. You will be responsible for maintaining the parks, gardens, amenities, and playgrounds in our community.

As a Works Assistant, you will use your expertise in horticultural, turf maintenance, and construction skills to assist the Open Spaces Coordinator/s in applying truck and plant operations. You will also carry out Open Spaces duties, including garden and turf maintenance, general parks, and projects, while ensuring customer service and safety are at the forefront of all activities.

Your role will also involve undertaking herbicide programs associated with parkland maintenance, asset maintenance, and repairs within gardens, reserves, and parklands. Additionally, you will carry out cleaning, mowing, and general routine maintenance activities to facilities such as amenities, barbeques, playground equipment, structures, fences, and related components, including tools and equipment.

To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent communication skills, prioritise customer service and safety, work well in a team, and be able to work autonomously. You must also have a strong commitment to work health and safety and sustainability practices and a willingness to learn and grow with us.

What's on offer?

  • Starting salary $53,789 per annum + Superannuation.
  • Permanent Full Time 38 hours per week.
  • Rostered days off and generous leave entitlements - long service leave after 5 years.
  • Scope for performance-based salary increases.
  • Opportunities for training and development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate lll Horticulture or Civil Construction or equivalent, and/or demonstrated relevant work experience.
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence.
  • National Construction Induction Certification (Whitecard).

Desirable

  • AQF3 Chemical Accreditation.
  • WHS Traffic Control Work (Traffic controller).
  • WHS Traffic Control Work (Select and Implement TCP's), or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid Certificate.
