ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

Council is fortunate to have dedicated staff responsible for maintaining all of our plant, buildings, and community infrastructure.

We are currently seeking a skilled welder to join our workshop team. If you value a positive work environment, teamwork and work-life balance, this opportunity may be perfect for you!

As a Welder/Metal Fabricator, you will report to the Supervisor of Welding and Fabrication and work with a dynamic team consisting of a Coordinator, Administration Officer, other Welder/Metal Fabricators, Mechanics, and apprentices. The position will provide a high level of assistance to the team in the design and construction of metal fabrications and the maintenance and repair of plant and machinery.

To be successful you will bring

  • Relevant trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the welding/fabrication industry with proven ability to fabricate steel, aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Proven ability in the design and production of basic metal fabrication drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to read complex engineering plans/drawings and complete fabrication works.
  • Proven good communication skills, both oral and written.

The rewards

  • A salary range of $61,700 to $70,800 per annum (plus 11% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications. You will also receive 11% superannuation, a weekly tool allowance of $35.40 and a weekly industry allowance of $18.28. 
  • 9 day fortnight working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Full time field staff will have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational and team based requirements and approval.
