About the role
This is a permanent, full-time position working 38 hours per week between 7.15 am and 5.15 pm.

This position will be primarily based at the Ulladulla Recycling & Waste Depot. You may be required to work at various locations, including Huskisson, and West Nowra. Additionally, you may be required to work at the seven (7) other sites including Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Callala, Sussex Inlet, Bendalong, Lake Conjola, and Kioloa as required.

A monthly roster will be implemented to support the business requirements, which operates seven days a week. Candidates selected for this role will be responsible for working shifts which may include weekends and public holidays as required.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Waste Depot Supervisor, the focus of this position is to:

  • Ensure the correct classification, ticketing, charging and destination of waste received at the depot, as well as the dispatching and ticketing of outbound materials.
  • Provide customer service, training, and support for Council’s Waste Depot weighbridge.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of

  • Ensure that all communication provided is correct, factual, timely, customer-focused and in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements and Council procedures.
  • A detailed list of duties follows:
    • Open weighbridge office and perform start up procedure for Council’s Waste Depot weighbridge.
    • Work in co-operation and collaboratively with all team members to achieve Councils waste operational goals.
    • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and Council’s policies and procedures.
    • Assess customer loads and provide directions for diverting reusable or recyclable items from landfills to promote sustainable waste management practices with the community.
    • Input details into the computerised waste tracking system.
    • Accept payments as, cheques, EFTPOS, Account or voucher.
    • Perform end of day balance and banking reconciliation.
    • Respond to telephone queries and calls for booking in loads.
    • Perform administration tasks as directed by the Team Supervisors Waste Operations.
    • Provide on-the-job training or mentoring for Waste Depot Operators and Waste Attendants working on the weighbridge system.

Skills & ExperienceIn order to be successful in the position, you will possess:

  • Certificate II in Waste Management or Administration, Civil Construction, or equivalent experience
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Willing to obtain or hold a current SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Training Card (i.e. White card)
  • Experience in administration, weighbridge operation, payments, and customer service.
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
