About the role
This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm position working 38 hours per week. Located at Council’s Ulladulla Office, Deering Street, Ulladulla.

On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Supervisor – Water Distribution, the focus of this position is to:

  • Construction of water reticulation systems and connecting of new services.
  • Repair main breaks and maintenance rectification of reticulation systems.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of reservoirs and pump stations.
  • Liaise with customers and provide and obtain information in relation to the tasks performed.
  • Communicate with Operations personnel and Supervisors to ensure workflow is maintained at expected standards.
  • Scheduled maintenance of water reticulation system (including hydrant maintenance).
  • Direct and control the work of Attendants and other staff as required, including coaching and on the job training.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will possess:

  • Minimum two years’ work experience in the maintenance or construction of water systems.
  • Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Current NSW SafeWork First Aid Certificate.
  • Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork).
  • Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry Certificate.
  • Current NSW SafeWork Traffic Controller Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven knowledge in water supply or sewerage systems operations, maintenance, construction, and repair (including pumping stations and reservoir operation).
  • Proven knowledge and history of safe work practices, including traffic control.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawing, calculate and apply technical information and skills in the field.
  • Sound communication skills (including proven ability to communicate effectively with customers and able to provide or obtain information and advice to peers and Supervisors).
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate, up to date records.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and to interchange duties and responsibilities to meet work goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow defined Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
  • A commitment to undertake relevant workplace training.
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
