About the role

AS the Water and Sewer Systems Analyst, you will contribute to the development and implementing Central Coast Council’s Business Intelligence system.

You will obtain and combine various sources of data, analyse and develop datasets to interpret trends and patterns, and build visualisations that will support improved business decisions. With the overall focus of providing actionable insights to the business and community to obtain current and future performance improvements. 

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key Duties:

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the operation of the Central Coast Water Supply & Sewerage systems and the key supporting data driven systems which can include SCADA, Infor Public Sector and key supporting databases
  • Develop, upgrade and maintain various Water and Sewer databases for data collection, storage and analysis for operational decision making, planning of business cases and regulatory reporting on various aspects of the urban water supply business
  • Conduct robust and detailed analysis to interpret data held in core and disparate systems and ensure correct alignment of data and storytelling through insights while developing visualisations to convey complicated data in a straightforward way
  • Develop, test and implement new datasets and supporting software following the Business Intelligence Life Cycle from understanding business requirements through to design and validation

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology or related field or demonstrated solid contemporary experience in data and / or system analyst roles 
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Proven ability in developing and managing large data sets and relational databases including understanding coding languages, data management practices and addressing metadata standards
  • Experience in analysis and processing of structured/unstructured data to allow identification of trends, business insights and convey to decision makers via reports and data visualisation techniques
  • Demonstrated experience and high level of capability using Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in the urban water sector and a knowledge of the urban water cycle and related infrastructure would be highly regarded

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position sits between $85.8K - $103K + superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full-time role 
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight. 
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role.
  • Successful candidates may be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
