About the role
This is a permanent full time position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm with a 9 day fortnight. There are three positions available based at the Callala, Ulladulla and Shoalhaven Heads Wastewater Treatment Plants.

These positions are responsible for operating and maintaining the Wastewater Treatment Plants and pumping stations and leading a team in a range of sewerage operations, construction and maintenance works. This includes:

  • Ensuring the Wastewater Treatment Plant, reticulation scheme and recycled water is compliant with the relevant Environment Protection Licence and Australian Guidelines for Water Recycling.
  • Supporting, supervising and training staff in the day-to-day operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Operating advanced treatment processes through SCADA. review plant performance and optimise the treatment processes.
  • Following scheduled maintenance plans.
  • Responding to alarms and investigate the root cause of faults to implement action in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring incidents are reported and risks are managed as per relevant plans and legislation.

On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in the maintenance or construction of wastewater/water systems
  • Part 1 Basic Wastewater Treatment Operations
  • Part 2 Advanced Wastewater Operations
  • Current MR truck licence (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • General Construction Induction card (white card)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry Certificate
  • Chlorine Handling Accreditation
  • Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise Council's current technology related to the position including WorxONLINE, OneCouncil. RITEQ, GIS and SCADA systems

We are looking for someone with strong leadership and critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve when responding to emergency situations or issues in the field.
