ABOUT THE ROLE

The position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Waste Management Officer to assist in the operation of Council’s waste and recycling business. 

Reporting to the Coordinator Waste Management, the position of Waste Management Officer is responsible for providing a high level of labouring and plant operation support to contribute to the efficient delivery of waste management services to the community, while maintaining a professional and courteous public image.

To be successful you will bring

  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council's values of: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
  • Class C driver licence with the ability to operate manual transmission.
  • Experience in the waste management industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in and ability to undertake physical labouring duties.
  • Proven good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness and ability to work rostered shifts; including regular work outside normal working hours.

The rewards

  • A salary range of $55,600 to $78,100 (plus superannuation) dependent upon shifts (higher weekend penalty rates), skills and experience.
  • 9 day fortnight working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Full time field staff will have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational and team based requirements and approval.
