The role
Are you ready to jumpstart your career in an essential and dynamic field? MidCoast Council is excited to offer a traineeship opportunity within our Water Management and Treatment department. This role is perfect for individuals eager to learn and grow in the operation and maintenance of our water and wastewater systems where you will complete a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (24 months).
As a trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day management of these critical systems, including both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks. This position offers the chance to develop valuable skills in water treatment and system operations, all while contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our community’s water services.
We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about learning, detail-oriented, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to performing tasks in a cost-effective and efficient manner is essential.
Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)

Commencement: Successful Trainees and Apprentices will commence on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.
Remuneration: You will be paid in accordance with the Traineeship pay scale as outlined in the Local Government (State) Award 2023 plus superannuation.
An allowance of $95.34 per week will also apply. (Trainee Water Allowance)
Location: This position will be based at the Bulahdelah, Stroud and Tea Gardens Water Services Depots. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Full-time 38 hours per week over a 24-month period.
Closing date: Sunday 5 January 2025 at 11.30 pm.
