The Opportunity
We have two (2) opportunities for goal-driven individuals to assist in the planning and management of the natural and built environment of the Bega Valley Shire as well as to support and advise the Planning Services Coordinator on planning objectives, policies and guidelines. This will be in regard to community expectations and changing physical, social and economic demands.
As a Town Planner, you will process and assess Development Applications, as well as research, prepare and evaluate (as appropriate) Environmental Studies, Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans. You will interpret and apply relevant environmental planning legislation including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and its Regulation, State Environmental Planning Policies, Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plan, Section 7.11/7.12 Contributions, circulars and relevant policies.

About You
We are seeking individuals who hold a degree-level qualification in Urban and Regional Planning (or qualification that would qualify the occupant for planning membership with the Planning Institute of Australia) and have 3 – 5 years recent related work experience (indicative).
You will have the following skills and experience;
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant environmental planning legislation, including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and its Regulation 2021; State Environmental Planning Policies; Local Environmental Plans; Development Control Plans, Contribution Plans; circulars and relevant policies.
- Experience and ability in assessing and making recommendations on a wide range of development applications.
- Proficiency in policy formulation and implementation.
- High level analytical and investigative skills including demographic, socio-economic and land use supply and demand.
Benefits
These are permanent, full time positions working 35 hours per week.
The total remuneration package for this position commences at $107,465.93 gross per annum, comprising of:
- $1,853.50 per week base salary
- $213.15 super per week superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)
