About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is currently looking to appoint a Tourism Services Officer on a permanent full-time basis within its Tourism Section based at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre (BVIC). The position requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic person capable of working independently to provide outstanding customer service and accurate relevant information to visitors to the Bathurst region and the local community. 

Reporting to the Manager Tourism & Visitor Services, you will have a proven track record of exceptional communication and customer engagement skills, along with interpersonal, teamwork, relationship building and networking skills. You will be highly organised and capable of displaying initiative and effective time management. You will be joining a positive team environment dedicated to showcasing the Bathurst region and growing our regional tourism footprint.

The role requires being a part of Bathurst’s front line tourism team at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre which includes ongoing weekend work on a rotating basis. The position is also required to work with key industry, community, and other stakeholder groups and will be involved in the promotion of the Bathurst region to visitors as a destination of choice including up selling and promotion of regional attractions, accommodation, events and experiences.

Key Requirements

• Strong oral & written communication skills
• Knowledge of tourism experiences, services and facilities available in the Bathurst region
• High level organisational and time management skills
• Demonstrated experience in delivering a high level of customer service
• High level computer skills including use of MS Office
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, relationship building and networking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
• A current Class C Driver’s Licence.

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Position Status: Permanent Full-Time 

Hours of work:  38 hours per week with an RDO every third week

Salary: $1,155.33 to $1,213.83 per week + super
