Join our committed team working in the water industry at Tweed Shire Council in the position of Technical Assistant - Water Supply and Quality. The role takes on a drinking water quality focus by monitoring and maintaining infrastructure assets across drinking water supply systems within the Tweed local government area.

The position is suitable to those who enjoy a diversity of tasks performing active work in mostly outdoor environments across various locations.

About the role:

  • plan for and conduct water quality sampling and assessments
  • monitor and maintain drinking water supply assets including network service reservoirs and disinfection booster stations
  • support various technical projects

We are seeking:

  • knowledge and experience with water quality testing and parameters
  • basic understanding of drinking water supply assets and their functions
  • a background in water operations or related field and/or a Certificate III in Water Operations or similar qualification is desirable

Where it's located:

This position is based in Chinderah and Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential: 

1. Knowledge and experience with water quality testing and parameters.

2. General knowledge of local government water supply assets and their functions.

3. Experience in carrying our minor works and maintenance activities under direction.

4. Capable and demonstrated experience of carrying out routine tasks independently.

5. Good level of accuracy in recording information and moderate computer / digital skills.

6. Current Vehicle Licence – Car.

Desirable:

1. Certificate III in Water Operations or similar relevant full or part qualifications.

2. General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

3. Working at Heights training.
