We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a skilled planning professional to join our Planning Team in a permanent, full-time capacity. Be part of a supportive and collaborative environment where you'll tackle some of the most diverse strategic planning projects in Northern NSW. This role provides the chance to work on a variety of projects, ranging from large-scale masterplans to planning and proposals and frequent community engagement activities.

About the role: 

  • Develop and implement strategic land use strategies aligned with Council and State policies, community values, and future needs.
  • Assess environmental, social, and economic factors and impacts to inform land use planning.
  • Prepare, review, and amend planning instruments, codes, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and the Local Government Act.

We are seeking:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
  • Previous experience in strategic and land use planning desirable.
  • Previous experience in planning policy development and implementation desirable.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
