Senior Strategic Planner (Employment & Rural Industry)

About the Role

It's an exciting time for Wollondilly with major town centres being planned and built. A rare opportunity has arisen within Council's Sustainable Growth section for a Senior Strategic Planner to join the team. Reporting to the Team Leader Employment & Rural Industries you will collaborate to support the employment and rural land use planning for the Shire. 

This unique role will enable you to contribute to improving local job creation opportunities, support agriculture and rural industries whilst balancing the expected long-term growth of the Shire. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate their competency for the position by meeting the following essential criteria:

  • Degree qualification in Town planning or related discipline.
  • Minimum four (4) years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the assessment of land capability having regard to legislation and the ability to develop planning policies, including development control plans, internal procedures, protocols and local environmental plans.
  • Ability to efficiently assess, negotiate, problem solve and complete complex planning for proposals and other strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to independently provide professional services and advice to internal and external customers, on matters which may be complex and require influence and negotiation.
  • Class C drivers licence.
