About the Role

The Senior Ranger will provide training and support to the operational requirements of regulatory services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan including:

  • Training and mentoring of Rangers
  • Parking enforcement
  • Community education and engagement activities
  • Stakeholder relationships
  • Animal management

About you

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Ranger or similar regulatory/law enforcement experience and hold or be working towards a Certificate IV in Local Government (Ranger Services).
  • Demonstrated experience in interpretation and applying legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking complex investigations and recommending enforcement actions to the Coordinator and Manager.
  • Proven ability to competently manage difficult situations and people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle large dogs & equipment and to apprehend stray dogs under difficult conditions.
  • Sound administrative skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven ability to assist and support in preparing briefs for prosecution.
  • Competent animal handling skills with experience relevant to the handling of dogs and cats.
  • Hold a Senior First Aid Certificate and Ochre Card or be able to obtain upon commencement.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or can obtain is desirable.
