Senior Executive Assistant to the General Manager

We’re seeking a high calibre Senior Executive Assistant to join the Office of the General Manager. The role provides confidential and politically sensitive secretarial and support services to the General Manager, ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency.  

 About the role:

In this dynamic role, you'll provide exceptional secretarial and administrative support directly to the General Manager. Here's what you'll do:

  • Provides confidential and high quality secretarial and support services directly to the General Manager, including managing their diary, email, and incoming correspondence, keeping them focused on strategic priorities.
  • Prepare, draft, review, and amend reports, presentations, memos, and other critical documents ensuring clarity, accuracy and alignment with the General Manager’s message and vision.
  • Connect with a diverse range of stakeholders including members of the public, Councillors, senior management, staff, State Government Departmental staff, Ministers and their teams.
  • Research complex information, synthesize it into clear briefing notes, and ensure the General Manager is fully prepared for all executive and council matters.

We are seeking:

  • Excellent communication and professional writing skills.
  • A high level of organisational skills, attention to detail.
  • An understanding of working in a complex and politically sensitive environment.
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, coordination, and research skills.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication or related business field

           Or

  • TAFE qualifications and a minimum of 5 years as an executive assistant or similar role providing high level secretarial and support service.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare communication and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in traditional secretarial skills and the ability to leverage Microsoft Office Suite at an advanced level.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working at this level in government is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of Council’s Record Management System and TechnologyOne software is desirable.
