We are seeking an experienced and professional Environmental Officer with a passion for sustainability.

In this role you will have the following accountabilities:

• Managing the Shire Infrastructure Directorate Capital projects Clearing permit applications from inception to approval, in consultation with internal departments and external authorities.
• Develop, manage and implement the Shire's clearing offset strategy.
• Provide advice on Environmental assets in relation to Shire's capital projects, including but not limited to flora, fauna, waterways and groundwater and sustainability.

Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and skillset:

• Tertiary qualification in environmental management/science or natural resource management.
• A minimum of five years' experience in environmental planning or management.
• Sound knowledge and ability to identify WA local flora and fauna, threatened ecological communities and habitat values.
• Demonstrated knowledge in environmental laws and regulations.
• Sound knowledge of public open space landscape planning and natural resource management.
• Sound knowledge of streetscape planning and roadside conservation management.
