The Opportunity
Are you passionate about workplace safety and looking to make a meaningful impact in the local government sector? Council is seeking a proactive individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to be our next Safety Officer. In this role, you will lead our WHS initiatives, ensuring compliance, conducting audits, and fostering a culture of safety.
Key requirements of the role:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
- Relevant employment experience in the local government, infrastructure or construction industry
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive safety culture
- Ability to analyse data, write reports and make recommendations to improve safety outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, with a commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Current driver’s licence
