The Opportunity

Are you passionate about workplace safety and looking to make a meaningful impact in the local government sector? Council is seeking a proactive individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to be our next Safety Officer. In this role, you will lead our WHS initiatives, ensuring compliance, conducting audits, and fostering a culture of safety.

Key requirements of the role:

1. Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
2. Relevant employment experience in the local government, infrastructure or construction industry
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive safety culture
4. Ability to analyse data, write reports and make recommendations to improve safety outcomes
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
6. High attention to detail and analytical thinking
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Proactive, with a commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices
9. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
10. Current driver’s licence
