The Package: $83,240.04 - $91,978.64 gross per annum + 11.5% super. (Evaluated as Grade 12 of the QPRC Salary System 2024) and a guaranteed increase of 3% in 2025-26, plus potential performance-based progression.

Full time - Fixed Term (3 years) – 38 hours per week. 9-day fortnight conditions will apply.

Looking to shape the future of our community? As a River Restoration Officer, you'll be the public voice for the river, helping to restore vital waterways, protect local ecosystems, and create a healthier environment for generations to come!

In this role you will:

  • Manage Council’s Queanbeyan River restoration grant ‘Urban Rivers and Catchment Program’, utilising funds to identify and prioritise revegetation and conservation efforts.
  • Manage and perform on ground works such as revegetation plantings, erosion control, weed control and habitat enhancement.
  • Collaborate and lead local workshops with community groups, local landholders and government agencies to promote activities of the Queanbeyan River.

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Demonstrates practical experience in natural areas, with qualifications in Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safe work practices, including arboriculture safety, and holds a NSW General Construction Induction Card and a current Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Possesses strong communication, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, prepare reports, and provide high-quality customer service and expert advice.
