ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

The Risk Management Officer helps minimise Council’s risk exposure by assisting in the implementation and continuous improvement of an effective integrated Risk Management system. This role is responsible for administering Council’s insurance portfolio and processing of insurance claims. Additionally, the role supports the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Business Continuity Plan.

 

The ideal person for this role is highly organised, adept at managing competing priorities, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for comprehensive process execution. In this role you will immerse yourself in all aspects of Council’s business as you support and enable sound risk management, manage insurance claims and help the organisation prepare for possible business interruptions. Importantly, you will have a commitment to providing excellent customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

You will be provided on the job training in the technical aspects of the role and supported to complete a Diploma in Risk Management and Business Continuity. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage Council’s insurance portfolio including the management and administration of claims in a cost effective manner, maintaining privacy and confidentiality
  • Staff education and advice on risk management and insurance across the business
  • Ensure regular review of Council’s insurance coverage to minimise the potential for uninsured losses
  • Regular reporting, including collection and collation of statistical data, to key stakeholders across the business to improve understanding of Council’s risk profile
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Council’s risk registers
  • Facilitate alcohol and other drugs testing for staff in accordance with the Alcohol & Other Drugs protocol and procedure
  • Provide support for the follow-up of internal audit recommendations and the operation Council's Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
  • Ensure Council’s Business Continuity Plan is maintained and updated on a regular basis

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 11 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $80,838.16 - $90,931.88 per annum plus superannuation.
