This is Permanent Full Time role. The salary ranges from $63,037.65 up to $72,076.51 per annum plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)

Our busy, high functioning Rates team is looking for a detail-focused, data entry star to join the team. This is an exciting entry-level position, perfect if you are looking to kick start your career in finance, allowing you to develop rating and accounts receivable knowledge, while enhancing your customer service skills and knowledge.

This is a very busy role, where no two days are the same. As one of the first contact points for our community, the primary purpose of the role is to : 

  • Provide a high level of service by responding in a timely manner to customer enquiries through various channels, such as phone, email and in person 
  • Maintain Council's Rates, Charges and Accounts Receivable information to ensure accurate record keeping and integrity of debt information
  • Play an active role in identifying process improvements and innovation within the team 

What you will be doing:

You will be a valued member of the Rates team, working in a supportive, customer focussed and achievement-oriented environment.

You will be entering and maintaining important billing data, so attention to detail will be a critical skill.

You will be working with sensitive personal information, which means confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity are also important.

You will put your excellent work ethic and customer focus to use as you'll be directly liaising with members of the community.

In this role, you'll also develop skills in legislative requirements and interpretation of the Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation, along with interpretation of Council policies and processes. This will help broaden your understanding of the role Local Government plays in our community.

You will be supported to develop and grow your data entry and customer service skills, and an understanding of basic accounting. As your experience and knowledge grows, you'll also be exposed to career development opportunities - across the team in different functions or the possibility to act in a revenue officer capacity.

  • You have a keen eye for detail and a knack for numbers
  • You possess excellent accuracy and take pride in your work
  • You have sound data entry skills and are comfortable working with spreadsheets and databases
  • You have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • You are a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
