The Opportunity

Bellingen Shire Council is seeking an exceptional individual to join our growing Development and Compliance team.  You will play a pivotal role in supporting our team’s success by providing exceptional regulatory support and quality customer service outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have Certificate III qualifications in Business Administration or related discipline. It is highly desirable that you have commenced your professional journey related to one of the professions this position supports including for example: town planning, Building certification, Environmental Health, land use compliance. This might include being enrolled in a course to obtain your professional qualification in any of these areas.

We seek someone with demonstrated experience in delivering customer service excellence within a highly regulated industry, preferably within a Local Government environment.

It is preferred you have a basic understanding of Council planning, development and certification processes and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations, and previous experience using the NSW Planning Portal.  Experience working within an application workflow environment (e.g. GreenLight) is highly desirable.

To succeed in the role, you will have demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills and abilities, the ability to consult, share information and work collaboratively, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery.

Annual salary of $66,085 to $75,304 (plus super).  As of 1 July 2024, an annual Award increase of 3.5% will also apply to the base annual salary.

Sponsorship/work rights for Australia

Please note:  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.  For a continuing position, you must be an Australian New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
