How you’ll make a difference
Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a full-time Records Management Coordinator based in Katherine, NT.
As the Records Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for Councils record management activities, maintaining and providing a records management service to meet the needs of the organisation and accordance with policies and relevant legislation.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work as part of a team by developing and maintaining good working partnerships with all stakeholders, to promote a culture of best practice and continuous improvement in records management within the workplace and meets the Councils strategic objectives.
- Provide training, advice and guidance to employees on Councils best practice for Saving, storing and archiving records.
- Develop and educate employees on records management effective practices and procedures.
- Ensure all of Councils records are kept and managed in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Maintain the security and integrity of records and ensure assigned security classifications are correct for assigned employees.
- Ensure correspondence is reviewed, processed and registered in the system including, mail, emails and other documents.
- Ensure that registers relating to correspondence is always maintained and up to date.
- Undertake research and the collation of physical and electronic documents required for processing Freedom of Information applications and other information requests.
- Oversee the management of the records archive system ensuring ease of archive retrieval.

To qualify, candidates will need proven knowledge and experience in record management and administration, including the ability to provide training, advice and guidance for best practice and continuous improvements.
Additionally, you will join with the following skills and background:
- A high level of competency in records management systems, procedures and practices.
Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to problem solve.
Strong interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication, with an ability to relate appropriately to staff at all levels while providing effective client services.
Ability to be able to work in a cross-cultural environment.
Ability to work in a sensitive and confidential area.
Ability to be able to interpret legislation.
Sound knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the principles of Work Health & Safety.
