About the Role
The position objective is to ensure effective administration and enforcement of Council By-laws and regulations through positive community education and promotion.
Working with the Regulatory Services Operations Lead, the Regulatory Services team and other Council employees, the Ranger is responsible for the promotion, education and enforcement of a range of services and programs that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan including:
- Animal management
- Community safety
- Management of legislative and by-law breaches
- Contractor management
- Sustainable and strategic project delivery
About you
- Certificate III in Local Governance or an associated field is desirable.
- Completion of Year 12 Secondary School education and minimum of four years practical experience in a similar role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and produce professional written correspondence.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation, assessment and problem solving to efficiently and appropriately resolve complex and sensitive issues.
- Ability to interpret, adhere to, follow, and regulate relevant Northern Territory Government and Council legislation and policies.
- Competent animal handling skills and physical ability to safely capture, lift and handle large dogs and equipment, in some cases under difficult conditions.
- Sound administrative skills and competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, especially with Indigenous communities.
- A positive attitude and commitment to deliver quality customer service.
- A clear understanding of the role that Work, Health and Safety plays within the workplace coupled with a willingness to commit and adhere to Work, Health and Safety practices and policies.
