About the role

This permanent fulltime position will work 38 hours per week/9 days per fortnight, working 7.00am to 4.00pm. The position works from the Shoalhaven Water Operations, Depot, Flinders road, South Nowra. The position is in the Mechanical/Electrical Team of the Shoalhaven Water Operations & Maintenance Department.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Coordinator – Pump Fitters, the focus of this position is to:

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair pumps, including submersible and dry well, of waste, water, and sewerage treatment.
  • Perform general jobbing work including operating lathes, mills and presses.
  • Undertake welding of all ferrous and non-ferrous metals using specialised welding equipment, eg Mig, Electric Arc, Oxy Acetylene.
  • Carry out the lifting of pumps and other heavy equipment using truck mounted cranes, in accordance with a C2 licence.
  • Vibration analysis and condition monitoring of pumps, gearboxes, and other Council assets
  • Supervise and train apprentices and trades assistants.

On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will possess:

  • Trade Certification in Fitting & Machining
  • Minimum 4.5 years’ experience, inclusive of apprenticeship experience
  • MR truck licence or ability to obtain.
  • WorkCover Construction Induction card.
  • Hold or could obtain the following,
    • C2 licence to operate a truck mounted crane.
    • Confined spaces certificate and the ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Working at heights.
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or the right to work in Australia (visa)
