About the role
We are seeking a Property Officer - Parking to ensure that Council's parking assets and infrastructure are managed to a high standard to meet key performance indicators and drive improvement in line with the expectations of the community and other stakeholders. The Parking Officer works closely with the Property Management Coordinator, the Property Management team and the Manager Commercial Operations & Property to provide effective management and delivering expert advice on Councils Parking Portfolio and Parking Managing Agreements.
Overall, the objective is to ensure optimum returns are achieved and that the best possible customer service is provided.
Wollongong City Council operates a significant portfolio of off-street carparks in the city-centre that are either controlled parking locations or licenced for public use. In addition to this, Council manages on street parking in the Wollongong CBD via the use of parking meters.

What you will be doing:
In this role your daily responsibilities will include but not limited to: -

  • Managing Councils Parking Portfolio which includes 8 Council owned Carparks, including over 700 car parking licence agreements in addition to managing a separate Car Park Management agreement for the multi-level Market Street Carpark.
  • Coordinate Council's Licencing function, which involves liaising with customers, car park users, service providers and relevant stakeholders to ensure that Councils obligations are met and establish maintaining appropriate and complete records and database that compliments and is compatible with overall Councils Licencing Management Platform (One Council).
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining Councils carparks waiting list, ensuring that new applicants and licences are progressed in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring all the operational functions of the parking meter maintenance and cash collection contracts to ensure the City's services continue to improve to the satisfaction of the community and other Stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the City's 'at grade' car parks to ensure that the optimum return is achieved, and the best possible customer service is provided.
  • Managing the transactional side of the portfolio, ensuring debtors are set up in the system ad invoiced correctly, also responsible for debt management.

About you

  • You will possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening, consult and adept communications styles to suit a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be resilient, motivated and enthusiastic with the required drive to strive for results and improvement,
  • You have strong time management, work prioritisation and organisation skills with the ability to work both independently and interdependently in a busy team environment.
  • Be an analytical thinker, especially in producing and analysing reports, contracts and strive for extraordinary results for the organisation.
  • You will possess substantial knowledge and, demonstrated business acumen through direct experience working with the relevant legislation, policies, procedures and standards relevant to the area of work.
