Project Officer

Kempsey Shire Council are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Project Officer to join our team and support the delivery of a range of capital and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will work alongside Project Managers, assisting in the planning, monitoring, and reporting of major projects across public spaces, sports facilities, roads, bridges, building assets, and drainage.
Your role will involve drafting project specifications and tender documents, supporting the management of project delivery, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with project plans, quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Please note: This is a temporary full-time position for a 3-year duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers in overseeing project delivery to ensure it meets scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, risk, environmental, and regulatory standards, as well as Council policies and procedures.
- Prepare and produce project documents (such as specifications, tender documents, project plans, agendas, presentations, reports, minutes)
- Utilise project management tools to track performance and financial progress.
- Inspect contractor works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Monitor and report on project variations and performance.
- Assist with grant applications, reporting, and data collection for the Project Management Office.
- Address customer service enquiries related to project activities.
- Facilitate the coordination of project activities across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring clear communication of tasks and deadlines to all relevant team members.
- Identify and document potential operational risks impacting project delivery and assist with mitigation approaches.

About You:
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Experience in civil works construction, contract management, and/or the building industry.
- Demonstrated experience working within a project management team with strong previous administration experience.
- Tertiary degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Certification in Prince 2 or similar project management discipline (desirable)
- Valid General Construction Induction Card and Class C Driver Licence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of project management frameworks, risk assessment, environmental standards, and WHS requirements.
- Proven organisational skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
