This senior position is responsible for facilitating the PMO Centre of Excellence and Portfolio Management functions. This includes promoting a culture of transparency and continuous improvement, training and educating staff across all levels sharing best practices, and enabling effective prioritisation, governance, and resource allocation to meet strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Coordinator - Project and Change Management Office, this role will deliver the PMO Operating Model and Charter and is expected to show a high degree of initiative and independence.

We are seeking:
- Ability to provide tailored guidance, advice and training to Council staff and executives in the implementation and use of project and portfolio management frameworks, processes, and systems.
- Strong program and project management abilities in order to develop, maintain and continuously improve Council's project and portfolio management frameworks, processes and systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to create consensus, resolve disputes and broker agreement to proposals and ideas.
- Exceptional organisational skills to effectively develop and administer training and mentoring programs.
- Excellent communication and change management skills to engage colleagues and management in adoption of Council’s project and portfolio management frameworks, processes, and systems.
- Highly developed written communication skills including the ability to write in a clear, fluent, and concise manner.

Where it's located:
This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in a similar or related role.
- Relevant qualification or industry certification.
- Strong program and project management abilities, including experience managing multiple and competing budgets, schedules, and resourcing; within a political environment whilst ensuring appropriate stakeholder communication and reporting.
- Demonstrated extensive change management skills, experience, and success in improving organisational performance and implementing cultural change programs inspiring positive attitudes, uptake and genuine long-term buy-in.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated significant experience with different project management systems and frameworks.
