Project Engineer Operations - Transport

The role

We are looking for a strong communicator to join our team within the Operations South department. We are committed to delivering high-quality projects that contribute to community infrastructure and services. As a Project Engineer (Operations) – Transport, you will play a pivotal role in the Operations Team. You will be responsible for managing projects under Council’s Capital Works Program, including maintenance programs and natural disaster assistance projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of projects within Council’s Capital Works Program, including maintenance and disaster assistance projects.
  • Manage projects through initiation, planning, execution, and close-out phases.
  • Collaborate with the Project Delivery team to ensure smooth project execution and achievement of agreed outcomes.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures throughout project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, taking proactive measures to address any issues or deviations.

What you'll bring

  • Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation and acts within the civil industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively support and coordinate multidisciplinary groups, influence stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and negotiate outcomes.
  • A willingness to travel around the Local Government Area (Stroud, Bulahdelah, Tea Gardens and Forster/Tuncurry)

Salary: Commencing salary circa $88,700 p.a. plus superannuation. 

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. MCC’s vehicle arrangements provide you with two options:

  1.  The payment of a Vehicle Allowance equating to approximately $9,000 p/a; or
  2. A Leaseback Vehicle whereby Council provides you with a vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price.  This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Tuncurry Works depot located on Grey Gum Road, Tuncurry. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites within the Operations South Department and across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
