About the role

Working in Maitland City Council's City Planning group, the Principal Planner will assess complex and high-profile planning applications, as well as providing technical expertise, advice, coaching and guidance to the development planning team, under the leadership of the Coordinator Planning & Development. As the Principal Planner you will analyse legislative changes and contribute towards systems and process improvements, working to identify and facilitate changes to Council's plans and policies that impact the development assessment process.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess degree qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline, and extensive industry experience within planning and development.

You will have experience in and a demonstrated ability to undertake quality and timely assessment of large scale or complex development proposals. In addition to this, you will have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to problem solve and negotiate outcomes. With a high commitment to professional and expeditious service, you will ensure an exceptional customer experience for all Council stakeholders.

Benefits

This is a permanent full-time role, 35 hours per week, with a base salary ranging from $115,445.72 - $128,144.64 per year based on demonstrated competencies + private leaseback vehicle + 11.5% p.a superannuation. Additionally, Council has a range of benefits including, but not limited to:
