ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic candidate with high level competence in the operation of a HC truck to join its road construction team. Reporting to the Supervisor, this position is responsible for specialist operation of a low loader to competently and efficiently transport plant, equipment and materials to support the completion of Council’s road construction and maintenance work programs. The position has the opportunity to provide training and mentoring support to staff in plant operation.
The position will also be responsible for relief operation of other plant items and conducting a variety of labouring duties associated with section functions, including concreting, signage maintenance, roadside spraying, pothole repairs and general maintenance of roads, roadsides, footpaths, cycleways, kerb and guttering, drainage, bridge structures and all other assets for the Engineering Works section.
To be successful you will bring

- Current class HC (Heavy Combination) driver licence with high level high competence and relevant operational experience in a civil construction and maintenance working environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in road construction and maintenance duties associated with roads and roadsides.
- Demonstrated good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card).
The rewards
- A salary range of $61,500 to $70,500 per annum (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
- 9 day fortnight working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Full time field staff will have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational and team based requirements and approval.
