Salary Range: $1,041 - $1,188 per 38 hour week + superannuation with fortnightly RDO

The Position

As a Plant Operator, you will be a key part of Council's construction crew undertaking road construction and maintenance activities, operating and maintaining a variety of plant in accordance with Road Operations objectives and requirements. You will be required to competently operate and maintain mobile and fixed road plant (including front end loader, backhoe, tip truck, excavator, grader) to construct and maintain roads and pavements. You will also undertake other truck driving duties including transportation of equipment and materials, loading, unloading, and securing of equipment and materials and other site duties such as preparation for works and traffic control. 
 

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated capability operating roller, tip truck, front end loader to effectively carry out the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure, as well as undertaking daily maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Verification of competency (VOC) for front end loader or front end loader ticket
  • Current Traffic Controller Ticket 
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills
  • OHS Construction Induction Certificate (white card)
  • HR drivers licence

Desirable Requirements

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • Demonstrated ability to safely and competently operate a grader, excavator and backhoe on road construction and maintenance worksites to achieve required outcomes
  • Current Implement Traffic Control Plans Ticket
  • Grader VOC
  • Excavator VOC or ticket
  • Backhoe VOC or ticket
  • HC drivers licence
