Salary Range: $1,044 - $1,191 per 38 hour week + superannuation, with fortnightly RDO

The purpose of this position is to operate the patching truck and undertake relevant maintenance activities to ensure Council’s road maintenance objectives are achieved. Working with the Roads Maintenance crew, you will undertake roadwork activities including but not limited to: pot hole patching, shoulder restoration, sealing works with Council’s patching truck, road linemarking, and implementation of traffic control plans. Your primary duty will be the operation of the patching truck so an HR licence is essential.

As Patching Truck Operator you will also conduct inspections of the regional and local sealed roads and undertake maintenance of the Coonabarabran Airport.

This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. Selection criteria include:

  • Minimum one years’ relevant experience
  • OHS Construction Induction Certificate (“whitecard”)
  • Traffic Controller Tickets
  • Class HR driver’s licence is essential
  • Proven ability to operate different plant and equipment
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Proven and demonstrated reliability and punctuality
  • Experience in construction or road construction methods.
  • Experience in road maintenance
  • Certificate III Civil Construction is highly advantageous
