Salary Range: $1,044 - $1,191 per 38 hour week + superannuation, with fortnightly RDO

The Position

The purpose of this position is to operate the patching truck and undertake relevant maintenance activities to ensure Council’s road maintenance objectives are achieved. You will undertake roadwork activities including but not limited to: pot hole patching, shoulder restoration, sealing works with Council’s patching truck, road linemarking, and implementation of traffic control plans. Your primary duty will be the operation of the patching truck so an HR licence is essential.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Minimum one years’ relevant experience
  • OHS Construction Induction Certificate (“whitecard”)
  • Traffic Controller Ticket (blue ticket)
  • Class HR driver’s licence
  • Ability to operate different plant and equipment
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Proven and demonstrated reliability and punctuality
  • Experience in construction or road construction methods.
  • Experience in road maintenance

Desirable Requirements

  • Certificate III Civil Construction
  • Worksite Traffic Control ticket (yellow ticket)
  • Certificate I Chainsaw (cross cut)
  • Current WorkCover Front End Loader Operator ticket
  • Current WorkCover Skidsteer Operator ticket
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety and its importance to Council
  • Experience in working with and leading a work crew
  • Sound knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity 
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection Authority legislation and guidelines
