About the Opportunity
Cabonne Council has a permanent, full-time opportunity for
an experienced, collaborative and energetic leader with a passion for
change management to join our organisation in the role of Leader – Safety,
People and Culture.
Leading and managing the organisation’s Safety, People and
Culture department, you will work with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and
management to ensure a capable, safe and valued workforce through delivery of
effective employee/industrial
relations, recruitment, learning and development, workforce planning, and Work
Health and Safety (WHS) functions. You will also be responsible for the
development, implementation and monitoring of strategies, projects, programs
and initiatives that strengthen Council’s reputation as an Employer of Choice.
Reporting to the Executive Leader – Strategy, People and
Performance, you will have the opportunity to make this business-critical role
your own, whilst working collaboratively across the organisation to continue
building a culture that supports performance through continuous improvement and
application of best-practice approaches.

About You
This role is for a skilled professional who has a passion for
developing and valuing our people to ensure we have the right people, with the
right skills, in the right positions to achieve our organisational mission of
being an “adaptive, resilient and performing organisation to create a
sustainable and desirable future for our communities”.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human
Resource Management or a related discipline. - Demonstrated experience in a broad range of HRM
functions including employee/industrial relations, performance management,
workforce planning, recruitment and change management. - Demonstrated ability to build strong,
professional relationships with various stakeholders – including Executive,
Management, staff and workplace unions, and negotiate outcomes, resolve
conflict and provide clear advice and guidance whilst maintaining
confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. - Demonstrated experience in interpreting,
applying and advising on legislation and industrial awards and developing,
implementing and improving systems and processes to achieve legislative
compliance. - Highly developed written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare, draft and review multifaceted letters including preparation of employment correspondence/contracts, changes to employment arrangements and other documentation.
- Excellent time management skills, including the
ability to discern priorities, plan, and coordinate with other staff to
complete tasks. - Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced
computer and software skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office
suite of applications. - High level analytical and problem-solving skills
and ability to think and plan strategically. - Alcohol and Drugs Testing Accreditation, or a
willingness to obtain. - Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence.
Remuneration and Benefits
The appointment will be in accordance with the Local
Government (State) Award 2023 and Cabonne Council’s policies and conditions
of employment.
The role offers an attractive annual salary range of $101,670
to $156,930 ($3,910.40 to $6,035.80 gross per fortnight) plus 11.5 per cent
superannuation.
The role offers the option of a Leaseback vehicle.
