About the Role

 

The Nurse Manager Level 3 ? Perioperative Services is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across the full perioperative continuum, including pre-admission, operating theatres, the post-anaesthetic care unit (PACU), day surgery, and sterile services. This role is central to ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care through effective workforce management, robust clinical governance, and a commitment to continuous service improvement.

 

As a key clinical leader, the Nurse Manager Level 3 aligns perioperative services with organisational priorities, driving efficient resource utilisation and optimising theatre throughput to support exceptional patient outcomes. The position is also accountable for ensuring compliance with relevant standards and guidelines, including NSQHS, ACORN, and AS/NZS 4187, maintaining excellence in quality, safety, and operational performance.

 

About You

 

You are a highly skilled and experienced perioperative nursing leader with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. With extensive experience across pre-admission, operating theatres, PACU, and day surgery, you bring a deep understanding of the perioperative environment and the operational demands of high-performing surgical services.  You excel in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture grounded in safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

Your strong background in clinical governance, risk management, and adherence to national and state standards ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality care.  With well-developed financial and human resource management capability including rostering, FTE management, and cost-centre accountability, you are able to effectively manage resources while supporting optimal service performance. You also bring advanced interpersonal, communication, and change-management skills, enabling you to build productive relationships and lead teams confidently through periods of growth and transformation.

 

Analytical and improvement-focused, you draw on data and performance metrics to guide decision-making and drive quality improvement initiatives. You are committed to ongoing professional development and to advancing nursing practice within the perioperative setting.
