About the Museum

Opened in 2016, Orange Regional Museum is an award-winning museum dedicated to sharing engaging exhibitions and diverse public programs for audiences of all ages. Orange Regional Museum collects and interprets objects of significance for our local history and the history of the broader central west region.

Located in a striking purpose-built building within the vibrant Orange cultural precinct, the Museum is co-located with the Orange Visitor Information Centre and is a locus for visitors and local audiences alike. Orange Regional Museum showcases long-term and temporary local-history exhibitions alongside a program of the best travelling exhibitions from across Australia, presenting diverse topics including history, science, technology and culture.

Job/Responsibilities

Reporting to the Orange Regional Museum Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the Museum’s temporary and travelling exhibition programs. This includes:

  • Managing exhibitions, displays and special projects from initial concept through to successful delivery in consultation with the Museum Manager
  • Preparing exhibition project plans, schedules and detailed costings and overseeing the design, production and installation of exhibitions
  • Facilitating technical teams including Museum staff and Orange City Council personnel to produce exhibitions
  • Overseeing resources, monitoring budgets, and responding to stakeholder enquires to ensure outcomes are achieved on time and within budget

So what do you need?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies or relevant field including arts, management, curatorial studies and history or equivalent
  • Experience in similar role including demonstrated experience in exhibition development and delivery or equivalent cultural projects
  • Demonstrated project management experience including the management of budgets for small scale projects
  • Ability to obtain a satisfactory criminal records check
