About the Opportunity

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping exceptional customer experience and driving innovation?

Parkes Shire Council is seeking a practical and results-driven Manager to spearhead the development, implementation, and review of our Council's customer services, information technology, records and information management services and strategies.

As the Manager Customer and Information Services, you will have the exciting opportunity to oversee a diverse portfolio, including business systems and technology, records and information management and customer service. Reporting directly to the Director Customer, Corporate Services and Economy, you will play a pivotal role in driving transformative initiatives and projects aligned with our strategic vision. The role works strategically across the organisation to ensure that the priorities and values of Council are delivered and communicated in a coherent and prioritised manner.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Information Technology, Customer Experience, Information Management or similar discipline
  2. Proven ability to lead and manage business systems and process improvement.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of customer experience principals and practice
  4. Demonstrated understanding of records and information management in a government context.
  5. Demonstrated understanding the principles of continuous improvement such as LEAN Methodology.
  6. Proven ability to engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve fit-for-purpose outcomes that drive the achievement of strategic goals.
  7. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation, research, information analysis and report writing to facilitate planning, decision-making and continuous improvement.
  8. Demonstrated staff management experience, with proven track record leading, developing and supporting staff to achieve work targets and objectives efficiently and effectively.
  9. Current and maintained NSW Driver's Licence.
  10. Current and maintained National Police History Check.
  11. You must have the right to live and work in Australia

Desirable Criteria

  1. Postgraduate qualification/s in Business Management, Customer Experience, Information Technology, Information Management or similar discipline or related discipline.
  2. Knowledge of the role, functions and responsibilities of Local Government.
  3. Local Government experience in a management role.
  4. Demonstrated experience in project and contract management.
  5. Demonstrated understanding and experience of procurement policy and management.

Benefits

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 17 of Council's salary structure and offers a starting salary of $101,606 (plus 11 per cent superannuation), with commencing salary to be negotiated and determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Interview Process

Applications will be shortlisted as they are received. You will be contacted by phone if you have been selected for interview.  You will be required to bring with you a copy of all relevant certificates and qualifications. The interview panel will consist of a panel of three.

If you have not been selected for interview you will be advised by email. 

Pre-employment Screening

In the event you are shortlisted for an interview, and are then selected to progress to the next stage following interview, you must be prepared to undergo the following pre-employment screening processes as part of the selection process:

  • A pre-employment physical examination (at Council's expense), including a hearing and drug and alcohol test
  • Please include two work related referees in your resume for reference checking purposes - please ensure your referee details are current
  • Undertake any other applicable screening that may be relevant to the role
  • Council may also check authenticity of certificates and qualifications
